Second Lesson plan for FTT (For both groups with progressions)
Introduction Part 2, it’s the same as 1, with an emphasis on a key role of the foot/ankle complex , namely the split step/unit turn. These combine to break that state of inertia which is the preferred state of our bodies, at rest. It takes movement and energy to change that state of rest or change direction when moving. It makes sense to do this as early as you can when receiving a ball in tennis and the means is a split step/unit turn
Warm up. 15 mins, it makes sense in preparing to play that you increase body warmth and circulation first with:
- • Two laps Jog, then other tennis footwork with split step for 2nd lap.
- • Keep Ball .Ball skill games to sharpen perception and movement • rehearse muscle and joint flexibility and strength in all 3 planes.Functional matrices for Foot/Ankle in all 3 planes with knee and opposite knee drivers
- Less support. Sideways 1 hand. No hands support. See FTT 1 for video
- Start racket skills, mini court. Play and move up/down.
